The Art of Memoir by Mary Karr5/24/2023 Yardley deplored The Kiss (in one of three pieces pummeling it) as a “slimy, repellent, meretricious, cynical” offering to the “gods of publicity.” Harrison was dunned for not making her memoir sexy enough in Vanity Fair, while the New Republic scolded her for transmitting her father’s abuse to her own children by daring to write about it. Harrison’s was a book people talked about for months and about which every person in the book business felt obliged to take a position. As Bennett pointed out, a very similar story, recently published on Jezebel, went viral, but still garnered nothing in comparison to the uproar that greeted The Kiss. It’s almost impossible to imagine such a response now, when equally or even more shocking revelations appear on the Internet on a weekly basis.

Or does it get worse? Find out below: The Embattled Road by J.M. Madden5/24/2023 He moves into her house, fanning the spark of attraction into a blaze. When an old enemy tries to settle a vendetta against Shannon, John insists on protecting her. Soon Shannon is wondering just what it would take for John to want her the way she wants him. The man is grumpy and nearly impossible to work with, but his brand of masculinity appeals to her on a basic level. Shannon Murphy wasn’t really looking for love when she hired on at LNF, but finds herself hopelessly attracted to the sex-on-wheels former Marine, John Palmer. Before long, John finds himself wondering if he could ever be the kind of man Shannon needs. When Shannon Murphy is hired on as the new office manager, life suddenly gets a lot more interesting. Though not content with his new life, he is mostly adapting, just like the other vets at the Lost ‘N’ Found Investigative Service. John Palmer hasn’t felt like a real man since he was injured during combat in Iraq. Jim henson by brian jay jones5/24/2023 Henson spent his childhood as “a Mississippi Tom Sawyer,” in his own words, shooting at water moccasins with his BB gun and devoting his Saturdays to the movies, spending the entire day soaking up serials, newsreels, cartoons and cowboy films later, he and his buddies assembled props and makeshift weapons and acted out the dramas they’d just seen. Not to worry: If the life of the man who created the Muppets had been any cornier or more wholesome, he would have been sued by Norman Rockwell’s lawyers for plagiarism. Jim Henson was such a beloved and tragic figure (he died at 53 of a strep infection) that I hesitated to open Brian Jay Jones’s book for fear that it would be yet another “pathography,” a term coined by Joyce Carol Oates to describe the account of a person who may be saintly on the surface but whose story is mainly one of dysfunction, disaster and outrageous conduct. Boss of me tia louise5/24/2023 They each have the past they are fighting to live with as well as present day struggles that the strong women that love them help them get through. This is such a great make you feel series. Wonderful epilogue! Worth a credit? Not sure - maybe you don’t have the same pet peeves as me □♀️ Also, there was some redemption toward the end as the storyline improved exponentially. This is definitely not Tia Louise’s best work. I felt frustrated reading a lot of this book. And why so much secrecy? I mean, there was nothing to hide and everyone, including all their family members, would have been supportive and super excited for them from the first time romantic feelings manifested. This kind of ongoing weakness drives me nuts! Third, the lack of communication was so juvenile. And Mindy.she let him mistreat and neglect her feelings for years with no backbone. I know Sawyer had issues to work through but dang, he was horrible to Mindy for so much of this story. First of all.what is the deal with all the characters in this series sneaking through windows into their 20s-30s.weird! Second, I didn’t know who I wanted to strangle more in this book.Sawyer or Mindy.
